Sports bettors know it's a big sports day in Los Angeles when the Angels and Dodgers are getting it on in MLB Inter-League play at Chavez Ravine and a few miles away in Pasadena, Team USA and Mexico battle for soccer supremacy in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final. The Dodgers came away disappointed after Friday's series opener with their cross town rivals and will be looking for a little redemption today (4:10 pm ET). Right-hander Hiroki Kuroda looks to even things up for the Dodgers as today's starter while right-hander Tyler Chatwood goes for the Halos.
With Kuroda and Chatwood scheduled to start, oddsmakers at most sports shops list the Dodgers as -135 MLB Odds favorites with a combined score total of 7 1/2 runs. Angel’s backers will be getting +124 odds as road underdogs.
The Angels were 8-3 winners on Friday when they covered as -126 favorites. The 11 total runs scored was good news for bettors who wagerd the OVER-9.
It was a familiar story for Kuroda on Sunday when he threw seven shutout innings but got a no-decision. He has four quality starts in a row but hasn't won since mid-May. His ERA at 3.07 is much better than his record at 5-8.
Chatwood at 4-4 on the year is the Angels' 21-year-old version of Roy Oswalt, is coming off his best performance in the Majors, with seven scoreless innings against the Mets. He showed his toughness along with his prime-time stuff in working out of jams. If both pitchers have strong performances today, it could be good news for UNDER bettors.
Sports shops will like the way MLB Odds betting trends are shaping up for this game with 53% of moneyline wagering on the Angels and 47% on the Dodgers. However, run-line betting is heavy at 80% on the boys in Blue. Totals bettors are hitting the UNDER by 61%.
