MLB Picks: The New York Yankees and the New York Mets will renew the Subway Series tonight when they square off against each other at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. The Yankees are coming off a road series win in Atlanta while the Mets just took two out of three from the Cardinals at Citi Field. The Yankees took an 11-7 game three win last night at Turner Field, giving them 19 runs scored in their last two games after scoring just over 13 in the six games prior. The back-to-back wins improved New York's record to 40-32 overall, and they are now four games back of the Red Sox in the standings. Joe Girardi's squad is 19-18 on the road this season. C.C. Sabathia will take the mound tonight for the Yanks. Sabathia is having a decent inaugural season with New York, sporting a 6-4 record in 15 starts with a 3.71 ERA. The 28 year old is 4-3 in eight road appearances this year with a 3.44 ERA. Despite what has been quality pitching — for the most part — on the part of Sabathia, New York has lost four of his last six starts. The big lefty departed with tightness in his bicep in his last start, but indicated he feels ready to go tonight. The Mets got a 3-2 win yesterday to take their series with the visiting Cardinals. The victory was the third in their last four games and 22nd of the year for them at Citi Field. New York is now 37-34 and just a half game back of the first place Phillies in the National League East. Toeing the rubber for the Mets this evening is Wichita State product Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey has produced pedestrian numbers thus far (4.74 ERA, 27 walks, 34 strikeouts), but has, nonetheless, garnered a 5-2 record in 13 starts. In his home outings (seven games), the 25 year old righty is 2-0 with a 3.95 ERA. The Mets are 4-3 in those games. Tonight's game is set to get underway at 7:10pm ET at Citi Field.
