Will Mark Cuban purchase the LA Dodgers?

by Reno Gold on Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Online sports book BODOG.eu is on top of the financial situation of the Los Angeles Dodgers  caused by their owner Frank McCourt and has posted some interesting MLB Team Betting Futures   on the Dodgers. If you've been following baseball news, you should be up to date on the financial woes of the Dodgers and their owner Frank McCourt. And how does Mark Cuban figure into all of this?

Will Mark Cuban purchase the LA Dodgers? The Dodgers are bankrupt, allegedly caused by McCort who's embroiled in a heated divorce with his wife. So it's not exactly like the Dodgers interests have been a top priority of the McCourt’s. So earlier today (Tuesday, June 28), McCourt filed Bankruptcy in Delaware.

Meanwhile Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig is opposed to such a measure because the Commissioner has a better funding alternative set up for the Dodgers.

To make a long story short; MLB would like to force McCourt to sell the team and get out of baseball ownership. MLB does not like a mess and McCourt and the Dodgers are just that – a mess.

You can just about bet your bottom dollar the Dodgers will be sold. The question is; to who will they be sold and for how much? BODOG.eu is allowing betting enthusiast a chance to wager on their instincts.

Here is an OVER/UNDER offer by BODOG. Will the LA Dodgers selling price be OVER $1-Billion or UNDER a billion? The betting price on this one is -120 ($120 wager to win 100). In case you're thinking about making a bet on the selling price, you might need to know that Forbes valued the team in Sept. 2010 at $427-million, less than half a billion.

The only other wager offered involves Dallas Mavericks owner and “Dot-Com Billionaire” Mark Cuban. Cuban made a serious attempt at purchasing the Chicago Cubs but was denied by an owners vote.

Will Mark Cuban be allowed to purchase the Dodgers? If your answer is YES and Cuban buys the team, then you will win a cool $300 (3/1 or +300 odds) if it happens and you can be rest assured, Cuban would love to get into baseball.
