MLB Picks: The Phillies and the Braves are set to begin a three game series tonight at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia. The Braves, who are coming off of consecutive home series losses to the Yankees and Red Sox, are listed as a -115 moneyline favorite in Sportsbook.com's MLB Picks: Phillies vs Braves MLB Betting Odds - June 30, 2009.MLB Picks: Phillies vs Braves MLB Betting Odds - June 30, 2009

Atlanta went 2-4 against New York and Boston at Turner Field last week to fall to 18-21 at home and 35-40 overall. The Braves were able to avoid the sweep against Boston by scoring a 2-1 win on Sunday, but they averaged just one run per game in the lopsided set. Despite their poor play, Atlanta remains just five games back of the first place Phillies in the National League East.

Tonight the Braves will call on off-season aquisition Derek Lowe to fend off the road warrior Phillies. Lowe has been extremely effective at doing just that over the past three seasons as he is 3-0 against Philadelphia in four starts with a 2.84 ERA. The 36 year old veteran is 1-0 versus the defending World Champions this year, earning a 4-1 win back on April 5th at Citizens Bank Park.

On the season, Lowe is 7-6 in 16 starts with a 4.53 ERA. He is 3-2 in eight starts at Turner Field with a 4.21 ERA.

Philadelphia comes into this evening's game sporting a 39-34 record. They are 3-3 on their current nine game road swing after taking two out of three against the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. The Phillies are just 3-7 in their last 10 games, but they have won 26 of their 38 road games this year.

Charlie Manuel will send 28 year old Joe Blanton to the hill tonight, hoping that the five year veteran can perform better than he has in his two previous 2009 starts against the Braves. Philadelphia is 1-1 in those outings, but Blanton gave up 17 hits in 13 earned runs in 12 innings of work (9.75 ERA) as Atlanta hit .321 against him.

The Kentucky graduate is 4-4 in 14 starts this year with a 5.06 ERA. The Phillies are 0-4 in his last four starts and 0-2 in his last two road appearances.

Tonight's game is scheduled to get underway at 7:00pm ET at Turner Field.

MLB Trend: The Phillies are 24-12 at Turner Field since 2005. They are 14-4 there since 2007, but are just 2-4 against the Braves this season (all at Citizens Bank Park).
