MLB Picks: The Minnesota Twins and the Kansas City Royals will square off tonight at Kauffman Stadium in game two of their three game series in Kansas City. The Royals took game one last night 4-2 behind an outstanding effort from Luke Hochevar. Minnesota, however, is listed as a -145 moneyline favorite in this evening's game at BetUS.com's MLB Picks: Twins vs Royals MLB Betting Odds - June 30, 2009. Kansas City scored their second straight win yesterday to improve to 33-42 on the season. Starting pitcher Luke Hochevar worked seven innings, allowing just two hits and no earned runs. The victory pulled the Royals to an even .500 20-20 at home and it left them 8.5 games behind the first place Tigers in the American League Central. KC will look to make it three straight tonight with USC graduate Brian Bannister taking the hill for manager Trey Hillman. Bannister is 5-5 this year in 13 starts with a 4.17 ERA, and is 3-2 in six starts at Kauffman Stadium with a 3.38 ERA. In the last three seasons, not counting 2009, Bannister is 3-1 versus the Twins in six starts with a 3.40 ERA. Kansas City is 5-2 in Bannister's last seven outing's against Minnesota. Minnesota fell to 39-39 yesterday, a tally good enough for third place in the AL Central standings. They are now 15-24 on road and four games behind Detroit. Prior to arriving in Kansas City, the Twins won back to back road series versus Milwaukee and St. Louis. Going tonight for the Twins is right-hander Scott Baker. Baker has struggled this season after having a wonderful 2008 campaign, going 5-6 in 14 starts with a 5.17 ERA. The Oklahoma State product is 2-3 in six road starts this year with a 5.45 ERA. The 27 year old has been solid versus the Royals in the past (career 3.03 ERA against KC), but gave up five hits and five earned runs in six innings in a 7-5 loss to Kansas City earlier this year. Tonight's game is slated for a 8:10pm ET start at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
