Brewers at Yankees MLB Odds June 30 2011

by Reno Gold on Thursday, June 30th, 2011

As it's turned out, the Milwaukee Brewers (44-37) haven't been much of an inter-league challenge for the New York Yankees (47-31). The Brewers, leaders in the National League Central Division by a game over the St. Louis Cardinals, look to avoid the brooms when they play the Yankees today (1:05 PM ET) at Yankee Stadium. But for Milwaukee to avoid such fate, they will have to do it against former Brewer and Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia who already has 10 wins on the season to go with his 3.25 ERA. Countering for Milwaukee is left-hander Randy Wolf who's 6-4 this campaign with a 3.20 ERA.

With Sabathia and Wolf scheduled to pitch, oddsmakers at most offshore sports shops list the Yankees as -210 MLB Odds favorites in this one with a betting total (over/under) of 8 1/2. Brewers backers will be getting +175 odds as moneyline underdogs. Run-line prices have the Yankees at -1 1/2 giving -105 while the Brewers at +1 1/2 getting +175.

Wolf got his season off to a rocky 0-2 start, but now at mid-season Wolf has gone to the mound 14 times and is 6-4 with a 3.20 ERA. Over his last eight starts, Wolf's ERA is 2.75. The ERA would be lower if not for a three-batter run in the fifth inning Friday capped by a three-run Twins homer.

[Yankees ace left-hander C.C. Sabathia became the first MLB starting pitcher to reach the 10 win plateau this season when he beat against the Rockies on Saturday.]

Sabathia collected his 10th win on Saturday with an eight-inning, one-run performance, his third straight win and seventh out of his last eight starts. He is tied with Chien-Ming Wang as the fastest pitcher to reach 50 wins as a Yankee over the past 30 years.

The Yankees were 5-2 winners over the Brewers in Yankee Stadium on Wednesday. Bettors who took the Yankees at -145 were rewarded while the seven combined runs moved the game UNDER for totals bettors. The Brewers have lost two straight games to the Yankees who have won four straight.

Trends show 73% of early MLB Odds wagers have been placed on the Yankees while 49% are wagering for the total to go OVER the posted 8 1/2-runs.
