MLB Picks: The Cardinals and Brewers start a three game set tonight in Milwaukee as the two clubs battle it out for first place in the National League Central division. St. Louis brings the momentum with them into the series having won four of their last five games. Milwaukee, however, is listed as a -143 moneyline favorite in tonight's Sportsbook.com MLB Picks: Cardinals The Brewers enter this evening's critical contest fresh off a road series loss at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Milwaukee lost three out of four to the Cubs and have dropped four of their last five games overall. The mini slump has left the Brewers with a 43-39 record and a game back of the Cardinals in the division standings. Milwaukee will send staff ace Yovani Gallardo to the mound tonight in hopes that the young pitcher can continue his dominance over opposing lineups. Gallardo is 8-5 in 16 starts with a 2.75 ERA and his competition is hitting a ridiculous .193 against him. The 23 year old Mexican will be making his eighth start of the season at Miller Park where he is 4-3 with a 2.47 ERA. The Brewers scored a 1-0 win against St. Louis earlier this year when Gallardo worked eight innings and gave up two hits and no earned runs. The Cardinals improved to 45-39 over the weekend as they took two out of three from the Reds in Cincinnati. The recent surge for the Red Birds has left them with a 24-19 record away from Busch Stadium and a 21-16 mark against NL Central squads. Tony LaRussa will call on 27 year old Adam Wainwright to keep the Cardinals in first place for at least one more night. The Georgia native has made 17 starts this season, garnering an 8-5 record and a 3.32 ERA. Wainwright's ERA on the road is a far worse 4.80, however, in seven away appearances, he has produced a 5-1 record. The veteran right-hander has taken the hill against the Brewers two times this season; he has given up just two earned runs to Milwaukee in 15 innings pitched. The Cardinals and Brewers game is slated for a 8:05pm ET start at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
