The American League has won 11 straight All-Star games and it has made a difference recently as the World Series home field advantage has been on the line. Starting pitcher Blue-Jays righty Roy Halladay (10-3, 2.85 ERA) has lost his last two starts after riding an eight game win streak. In his last two starts he’s pitched 20 innings with a 4.50 ERA. In 123 innings this season, he has struck out 106 and walked a mere 17. Halladay's All-Star start will also ensure one of the matchups fans most wanted to see in the All-Star Game: The Doc against The Prince and Albert Pujols. Pujols, batting in the heart of the NL lineup are certain to meet for the second time in their careers. On June 13, 2005, in an Interleague game, Halladay went 0-for-4 around Pujols.

National League Starting Line-up

Hanley Ramirez, SS
Chase Utley, 2B
Albert Pujols, 1B
Ryan Braun, RF
Raul Ibanez, LF
David Wright, 3B
Shane Victorino, CF
Yadier Molina, C
Tim Lincecum, P

It might be the year that the National League wins the All-Star game based on their superb starting pitcher. The NL will start San Francisco Giants righty Tim Lincecum (10-2, 2.33 ERA) who is 3-0 in his last three starts with a 1.19 ERA. The league's reigning Cy Young Award winner has won 10 of 11 decisions and posted a 1.96 ERA since his first couple of rough outings of the season. "He wasn't at full strength to start the season. That was evident," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy. "Once he got that back, he has been on an unbelievable roll. He's pitching as well as I have seen anybody pitch in my years of playing and managing. He has got to be considered one of the best, if not the best, pitchers in the game right now." Lincecum leads the league with 149 strikeouts, sharing that Major League lead with Detroit's Justin Verlander.

Over/Under Trends: The last three all-star games have been low-scoring affairs, totaling 21 runs, but the previous four contests were slugfests (52 runs).
