MLB Predictions Preview … The red-hot Milwaukee Brewers send left hander C.C.Sabathia to the mound at St. Louis tonight with hopes of getting another win and dropping the Red Birds another game down into the NL Central third place and at the same time keep pace or surpass the Chicago Cubs in the standings. Sabathia has a 9-8 record and a 3.51 ERA this season. The Cardinals will counter Sabathia with right hander Braden Looper.  Looper has a 4.60 ERA to go along with a 9-7 record this season.

MLB Predictions Betting Line … Oddsmakers at online sportsbook SBGglobal.com currently have the Brewers listed as -140 money line favorites versus the Cardinals, while the game's total is sitting at 8. Cardinals backers are getting +130 money line odds. Milwaukee is 7-4 (+2.7 Units) against St. Louis this season. Seven of 10 games in this series have gone UNDER the total this season.

Sabathia, who is 3-0 in his three Brewers starts since being traded from Cleveland, has pitched all nine innings in each of his last two starts, including a four-hitter at San Francisco to begin the second half. Sabathia is also living up to his reputation as a tough out; he homered against the Reds on July 13 and then doubled and scored against the Giants on Friday. Sabathia has no recent record against the Cardinals.

It didn't take long for the Padres to knock Looper around in his last outing on July 18. In three-plus innings of work, Looper only threw 68 pitches but managed to give up six runs on eight hits. Looper kept serving up pitches over the heart of the plate so many times that he eventually became visibly frustrated. However, Looper has been much more consistent this year than in years past. In his other three poor starts, Looper has followed with quality starts, showing a strong ability to bounce back. Looper is 2-3 when starting against Milwaukee with an ERA of 6.33 and a WHIP of 1.704.His team's record is 2-3 (-1.0 units) in these starts. The UNDER is 2-3 (-1.4 units).

Milwaukee won as +120 road underdogs as the teams played under the 9-run total listed by oddsmakers.

Prince Fielder and J.J. Hardy were both 2-for-4 with a run batted in for the Brewers, while Brian Shouse got the win in relief of starter Jeff Suppan for Milwaukee.

Ryan Ludwick went deep for St. Louis, as Kyle McClellan was tagged with the loss after surrendering the dinger to Hall.

The Brewers have now won six straight games while the Cardinals have lost their last two.

MLB Game Prediction: Things don’t look good for the Cardinals the way Sabathia has been pitching. The Brewers are the better bet in this one (-140 ml).
