The Boston Red Sox host the Oakland A’s tonight, Monday July 27, for their first of a four at Fenway Park. Both teams are split 3-3 during this seasons meetings. The A’s (41-56) are 1-3 during their four road games against the Yankees; were outscored 17-25, as they head into Boston. They are 4-6 in their last ten games and are 19-31 on the road where they average 3.94 runs for and 5.30 runs against. The A’s will start right hander Trevor Cahill (6-8, 4.50 ERA) who is 1-1 in his last two starts with a 4.24 ERA. On Wednesday, Cahill gave up one run in seven innings. He allowed six hits and struck out four. Cahill surrendered four runs in 5 1/3 at Fenway on July 8. All of the runs came in the sixth as he served up a solo homer to J.D. Drew before David Ortiz delivered a three-run shot of his own. The A’s are ranked 28 in hitting with a batting average of .250. They are averaging 4.4 runs per game this season with OPS of .696. Beckett has been brilliant at home, going 6-0 with a 2.44 ERA in nine starts. The right-hander beat the Athletics on July 7, allowing two runs over 6 2/3 innings. The Red Sox are ranked 15 in hitting with a batting average of .260. They are averaging 5.1 runs per game this season with an OPS of .781. J.D. Drew leads the Sox with two homers, six runs and five RBI’s and Jason Bay leads their offense this season with 20 homers, 59 runs and 72 RBI’s.
