MLB Predictions Preview … The Chicago White Sox travel to play the Minnesota Twins Monday night for a three-game series between the top two clubs in the AL Central Division standings. The White Sox currently hold a thin 2.5-game lead over the Twins. Left hander Mark Buehrle (8-8, 3.56 ERA) will start for Chicago while right hander Kevin Slowey (6-7, 4.41 ERA) gets the ball for Minnesota. MLB Predictions Betting Line …Online oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com have the Twins installed as -112 money line favorites with a 8.5 run total. White Sox backers are getting +102 money line odds. Pitching on just three days' rest for the fourth time in his career, Buehrle was as dominant as he has been since the start of June. The southpaw allowed one run on six hits over 7 1/3 innings, striking out three and not issuing a walk in winning his second straight decision. He improved to 6-2 over his last nine starts and 7-3 in his last 13, picking up his 10th career victory against Texas. Buehrle has a 1-1 record with a 5.27 ERA in two starts this season against the Twins but has not yet pitched at the Metrodome in 2008. Buehrle has a career 21-11 record against the Twins, more wins than against any other opponent for the left-hander, including a 10-5 mark in Minneapolis. Some late struggles by the right-hander turned a good start against the Yankees into a less than pleasing one. Slowey gave up three runs in his final one-third of an inning, including a two-run homer to Bobby Abreu. The homer by the Yankees right fielder was the 13th long ball that Slowey has given up in 15 starts this season. Keeping the ball inside the park has been a challenge for the pitcher and one he'll have to do better with as he faces the White Sox for the third time this season. He is 0-2 against Chicago in two starts in ’08, having allowed 11 earned runs over just eight innings. The White Sox lost to Detroit 6-4 as a +105 underdog on Sunday. The 10 runs scored caused this game to be a PUSH on the posted over/under total (10). Jermaine Dye hit a two-run home run for the White Sox, while A.J. Pierzynski added a solo shot in the loss. The Twins defeated Cleveland 4-2 as a -110 favorite on Sunday. The six runs scored fell UNDER the posted over/under total (9.5). The Twins scored a pair of runs in the ninth inning off the bats of Justin Morneau and Jason Kubel, while Nick Blackburn allowed on run on four hits over seven innings in a no-decision. MLB Game Prediction … UNDER the posted 8.5 run total. |
