Lou Piniella will send converted reliever Kevin Hart to the hill today in hopes that he can give Chicago its eighth win in the last 11 games. Hart has been extremely solid since making the switch to starter, going 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA. He has held opponents to a .255 batting average, which has kept him from being damaged by the 11 walks he has issued in 16 innings as a starter.
Houston fell to 51-50 and 3.5 games behind the Cardinals with yesterday's loss. They are now 23-25 away from Minute Maid Park and 5-5 in their last 10 games. The Astros will head to St. Louis after today's series for a three game set at Busch Stadium.
Russ Ortiz, who also began the year in the bullpen, will make his 13th start for the Astros this afternoon. The 35 year old California native is 3-5 with a 4.75 ERA on the season, but is 0-1 in four road starts (seven appearances) with a 5.75 ERA. Houston is just 1-6 in his last seven outings.
Today's game is scheduled for a 2:20pm ET start at historic Wrigley Field.
