MLB Picks: The Cardinals got their third win in a row last night, beating the Dodgers 3-2 in extra innings. They will wrap up their four game series with Los Angeles today hoping to stay ahead of the Cubs in the National League Central. The Dodgers are mired in their longest losing streak of the season after falling victim to Albert Pujols in the bottom of the 15th inning last night. Los Angeles dropped their fourth straight and assured themselves of a second straight series loss after Jeff Weaver gave up a single to Pujols that drove in Julio Lugo. Los Angeles lead 1-0 in the ninth, but closer Jonathan Broxton blew the save to extend the game. They again took a one run lead in the 11th after Matt Kemp scored Casey Blake on a sac fly. Ramon Troncoso played the goat this time as Ryan Ludwick tied the game with a single to left that plated Mark DeRosa. The loss brought the Dodgers record to 62-39 and dropped their lead in the NL West to seven games (San Francisco). Hiroki Kuroda will attempt to get LA back on track this evening as he makes his 12th start of the season. Kuroda is 3-5 with a 4.57 ERA, but the Dodgers have won four of his last five starts. St. Louis maintained their half game lead over the Cubs with yesterday's heroics and improved their overall record to 56-48. The win was their third in a row and fifth in their last 10 games. Kyle Lohse will take the hill for the Cardinals tonight. Lohse is 4-6 this year in 13 starts with a 4.35 ERA. He was roughed up in his last outing, giving up four hits and three earned runs in four innings of a 16-4 loss at Philadelphia. St. Louis is 0-4 in his last four appearances. Tonight's series finale is scheduled to start at 8:15pm ET at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.
