MLB Picks: The Phillies and Giants are ready for game three of their four game set at AT&T Park as the two clubs will take the field at 9:05pm ET tonight. Philadelphia evened the series last night, getting a 5-1 win with the newly acquired Cliff Lee on the mound. Tonight the Giants have their ace, Tim Lincecum, dealing and Sportsbetting.com has the home team listed as a -143 moneyline favorite in their MLB Picks: Phillies vs Giants MLB Betting Odds - August 1, 2009. Cliff Lee paid quick dividends for the defending champions last night as he threw B.B.s for nine innings against San Francisco. The veteran lefty gave up just four hits and one earned run in the complete game performance, and for good measure he added two hits and a run scored. The brilliant debut improved the Phillies to 59-42 and kept their six game lead over the Marlins in the NL East standings intact. Charlie Manuel will call on Joe Blanton for the start this evening. Blanton, after a rough beginning to the year, has been outstanding of late. Philadelphia is 4-0 in the right-hander's last four starts as he has given up just four earned runs and struck out 22 in a span of 29.2 innings. On the season the five year veteran is 7-4 with a 4.11 ERA. He is 3-2 in eight road starts with a 4.21 ERA. The Giants dropped their first home game since the All-Star break last night. The loss brought their record at AT&T to a still magnificent 35-16 while making them 56-47 overall. San Francisco is currently tied with the Rockies for second place in the NL West as well as the wild card spot in the National League. Both squads are eight games back of the Dodgers in the race for the division lead. Two year veteran and 2008 Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum will make his 22nd start of the season tonight. The Washington graduate is 11-3 with a 2.30 ERA entering this evening's contest. He is 6-1 in 10 starts at AT&T Park with a 2.13 ERA. The Giants are 7-3 when the lanky right-hander takes the hill at home. Lincecum was near perfect in his last start, giving up just four hits and no earned runs over nine innings in a 4-2 win against the Pirates. He struck out 15 in the victory.
