MLB Picks: The Diamondbacks and Mets wrap up their four game set this evening at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. Today's finale is set to get underway at 7:10pm ET. Arizona, while pretty much out of the playoff picture, has managed to win five of their last eight games. Their recent surge has brought their overall record to 46-59 while their success against the Mets over the weekend has improved their road record to 22-26. The D-backs took game one of the set 3-2 and gave themselves an opportunity to leave New York with a 3-1 series win after beating the Mets 5-2 yesterday. Pitching tonight for Arizona is staff ace Dan Haren. Haren is a legitimate Cy Young candidate this year as he is 10-6 in 21 starts with a 2.19 ERA. The 28 year old California native has allowed just 105 hits in 148 innings pitched, limiting opponents to a .194 batting average. He has walked just 22 and struck out 146. Haren's performance on the road this year has been outstanding as well. The six year veteran is 5-1 in 10 away starts with a 2.22 ERA. The Diamondbacks are 7-3 in Haren's 10 road outings. New York has fought hard to stay in the NL East race, overcoming a rash of critical injuires to win six of their last nine games. The Mets, however, have appeared to hit a wall against the Diamondbacks, at least in games one and two. They sandwiched nine runs between two run games on Friday and Sunday. A loss today would drop them to 50-54 overall and 29-24 at Citi Field. They are currently 9.5 games behind the first place Phillies. Nelson Figueroa will make his second start of the season tonight for New York. Figueroa last pitched on April 18th in a 4-2 loss to the Brewers. He was sent to the minors after the six inning, five hit, three earned run showing.
