White Sox at Tigers MLB Odds & Picks: The Detroit Tigers are looking up at a seven game deficit in the American League Central standings, in third place behind the leaders – Chicago White Sox and second place – by a game – Minnesota Twins. Beginning Tuesday afternoon in the first game of a day-night double header, Detroit begins a four game series with the Sox. This series is crucial for both clubs. If Detroit could pull off a sweep they will find themselves right back in the AL Central race. But if the they crumble, it will probably mark the end of their 2010 pennant run.
For Tuesday's game-1, a 1:05 pm start, Chicago will start left-hander Mark Buehrle. The White Sox ace is currently 9-8 on the season with a 4.15 ERA. Countering Buehrle for Detroit is right-hander Rick Porcello who is currently 4-9 with a 5.50 ERA.
BetUS.com oddsmakers list Chicago, with Buehrle starting, as -120 moneyline favorites with a posted total of nine for game-1. Detroit backers are getting EVEN (+100) moneyline odds if Porcello gets the start.
For game-2 Detroit, with Bonderman starting, are -120 favorites with a nine run total while Sox backers, with Torres starting, are getting EVEN (+105) odds.
Buehrle struggled early in his start against the Mariners, but he was able to right the ship: after giving up five runs in the first two innings, Seattle did not score again. That allowed the White Sox to come back for the win.
Porcello is winless in his three starts since coming back to the big leagues, but he's back to being a reliable member of the Tigers rotation. A pair of infield singles that caromed off Miguel Cabrera cost him three runs to the Rays last Thursday.
Right-hander Carlos Torres is expected to be the game-2 starter for Chicago (7:05 pm ET). He is 7-7 with a 3.41 ERA for Triple-A Charlotte. He pitched in eight games, five of them starts last season for the White Sox.
Right-hander Jeremy Bonderman is scheduled to start the second game for Detroit. Bonderman is 5-6 this season with a 5.05 ERA. Bonderman will make his first start since July 25, hoping to pick up his first win since the All-Star break and find some of the life he had in his pitches a month ago. He has a 7.29 ERA and a .928 OPS allowed in his past six starts.
