With only a game and a half lead in the NL standings, the Phillies will send right hander Kyle Kendrick to the mound looking for win No. 10 win on the season. Currently Kendrick has a 9-5 record to go with a 4.59 ERA. Countering for the Marlins will be right hander Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez is 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA.

Kendrick notched his second consecutive quality start with a win on Thursday against the Nationals, allowing two runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. The Phillies are now 15-7 in the 23-year-old's starts this season, the best mark among Philadelphia starting pitchers. Kendrick last faced the Marlins on July 19 and endured perhaps the roughest start of his young career. The right-hander allowed seven runs on three home runs — both career highs — in 4 1/3 innings in taking the loss. In three career starts against the Marlins, Kendrick is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA.

In his first start in almost 15 months, Sanchez picked up the win after giving up just two runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. Sanchez retired six of the first seven batters he faced, threw first-pitch strikes to 15 of the 25 hitters and left the game with the bases loaded and two outs after throwing 95 pitches, 56 for strikes. Prior to a rough sixth inning, Sanchez only allowed three runners to reach scoring position. He finished off the night with four strikeouts and two walks.

Jeremy Hermida went 2-for-4 with four runs batted in to lead the Marlins to an 8-2 drubbing of the Phillies on Tuesday night.

Florida cashed as +140 road underdogs as the game played over the 9.5-run total listed by oddsmakers.

Alfredo Amezaga was 2-for-5 with two RBIs for the Marlins, while Josh Johnson tossed six scoreless innings to get the victory for Florida.

Shane Victorino went 2-for-5 with two-run big fly for Philadelphia, as losing pitcher Jamie Moyer gave up two runs over five innings for the Phillies.
