Los Angeles is an even 10-10 since the break after losing two out of three at home to the Brewers. The series loss at Dodger Stadium brought the team's record to 66-42 overall and 35-19 in Los Angeles. Despite their mediocre play of late, Joe Torre's club is still six games ahead of the second place Giants in the National League West.

Starting tonight for Torre is 10 year veteran Randy Wolf. Wolf will be making his 24th appearance of the season; the southpaw is 5-6 thus far with a 3.47 ERA. Opponents are hitting .240 against the Pepperdine product in 140 innings pitched. He has made 11 starts at Dodger Stadium, garnering a 1-2 record and a 3.91 ERA. Los Angeles is 8-3 when the "Wolfman" takes the hill at home.

Wolf last pitched on August 1st, losing 3-4 at Atlanta after allowing nine hits and three earned runs over six innings.

Atlanta improved to 55-53 last night, beating the Padres 6-2 at PETCO Park. The win closed the Braves to within 6.5 games of the first place Phillies and a half game of the second place Marlins. The series win in San Diego left Bobby Cox' squad with a 27-28 mark away from Turner Field.

Former Dodger Derek Lowe, who is in his first year with the Braves, returns to Los Angeles this evening to start against his old mates. Lowe is 11-7 this year in 23 starts with a 4.21 ERA. The sinker ball pitcher is a pedestrain 6-5 in 11 road outings with a 4.52 ERA. The Braves, however, have supported the 12 year veteran well, which has translated into a 6-1 Atlanta record over his last seven starts.

Lowe pitched opposite of Wolf in the Braves 4-3 win on August 1st. The 36 year old also went six innings, giving up five hits and three earned runs.

Tonight's game is set to get underway at 10:10pm ET at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
