Be sure to get your MLB Pick: Rays vs Angels Odds & Prediction in now at SBGglobal.comThe Rays (61-50) went 1-2 on their road trip against Seattle and have won six of their last ten games. They are 25-32 on the road where they average 4.89 runs for and 4.74 runs against. The Rays will turn to righty Matt Garza (7-8, 3.63 ERA) who is 1-1 in his last two starts with a 2.74 ERA. For a while, Garza looked like the hard-luck loser again Tuesday night against the Red Sox, as Tampa Bay's offense couldn't muster much vs. Boston's Jon Lester. Finally, he was let off the hook by an eighth-inning home run by Evan Longoria, and the Rays ended up winning in 13. Nonetheless, Garza was solid once again: seven innings, three hits, two runs, two walks, six strikeouts. He tied a season-high with 120 pitches and tied James Shields for most on the team with his 14th quality start this year. His career ERA against the American League East also dipped to 2.78, which is the lowest among all active starting pitchers. The Rays are ranked 11 in hitting with a batting average of .265 and are averaging 5.2 runs per game this season with an OPS of .796. In three games against the Angels, Ben Zobrist has six hits with a .545 batting average and Carlos Pena leads their offense with two homers, five runs and five RBI’s. The Angels (65-44) went 1-2 at home against Texas and have won six of their last ten games. They are 33-22 at home where they average 5.55 runs for and 5.18 runs against. The Angels counter with right hander Sean O’Sullivan (3-1, 4.24 ERA) who is 1-1 in his last two starts with a 5.62 ERA. O'Sullivan finally tasted defeat in his sixth Major League start, victimized by one of Jim Thome's two home runs at U.S. Cellular Field on Wednesday night. O'Sullivan once again pounded the strike zone with fastballs, yielding six hits and no walks across five-plus innings and getting charged with four earned runs. He struck out three hitters. The Angels had won O'Sullivan's first five starts. They hope to resume the trend against the Rays, a team the big right-hander has not faced. O'Sullivan has pitched twice at Angel Stadium without a decision. The Angels are ranked 1 in hitting with a batting average of .287 and are averaging 5.6 runs per game this season with an OPS of .798.In three games against the Rays, Chone Figgins has five hits with a .455 batting average and he leads their offense with four runs and three RBI’s.
