The Detroit Tigers have won only seven games in August, a month in which the one-time World Series favorites were supposed to make a move. Bannister has had control problems since the start of July. He's given up 37 earned runs in his last 37 innings pitched. He's allowed 55 hits and 17 runs in that span (1.95 WHIP).
Bannister has been terrible on the road this season. He's 5-5 at home with a 3.72 ERA but on the road, he's 2-7 with a 9.16 ERA. In his only previous start against Detroit this season, he pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing just two hits.
