San Diego Padres vs Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

San Diego Padres vs Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview It’s never easy to pick the heavy underdog. Which is why at first glance when you see the San Diego Padres Cy Young candidate Jake Peavy take the mound at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks you think that San Diego must be the sure shot pick.

While picking the ace arm is usually a great play but the Diamondbacks are listed at +200 with old reliable workhorse Livian Hernandez taking the mound. The baby backs have been playing some great baseball lately and are hungry to win this vitally important series.

While Livian Hernandez has an inflated 4.96 E.R.A the workhorse is a big game pitcher. Young D-back Chris Young has hit 9 homers in his last 12 games and overall Arizona hits righties (.252) better than lefties while the Padres hit lefties better than righties (.242). Both bullpens have been taxed lately but this game looks to go past 6 innings for both starters.

I have to go with the hotter team in this heated rivalry. San Diego is coming home to their families after a long road trip and I think the baby backs at +200 are worth a small play to pull off the upset.
