San Diego Padres 2010 NL West Odds & Predictions

by Reno Gold on Thursday, August 26th, 2010

San Diego Padres 2010 NL West Odds & Predictions: Just in case you haven't noticed, the San Diego Padres are on the verge of running off with the NL West Division. The Padres, who were getting +2,000 at Sportsbook.com just before this season started to win their division – that's a nifty 20/1, sports fans – are 6.5 games ahead of their closest chasers.

San Diego still owns the best record in the National League, and the second-largest divisional lead in the majors. And the Padres have in their possession the best pitching staff in baseball, as they lead the majors in both team ERA and WHIP.

This weekend that pitching staff will get tested when San Diego hosts the two-time defending NL champion Philadelphia Phillies for three games at Petco.

The Padres have won 13 of their last 16 games through Wednesday. Philly, meanwhile, has lost the first three games of a home series with Houston which ends Thursday. So the Phillies now sit 2.5 games behind the first-place Atlanta Braves in the NL East, and they're now tied with San Francisco for the lead in the NL Wild-Card race.

San Diego and Philadelphia have only met once previously this season, when the teams split a four-game series in Philly back in June. And three of those games played UNDER their totals on the Sportsbook.com MLB betting line.

As of Thursday morning Sportsbook is listing the Padres at +300 to win the NL pennant, and San Fran at +500. And San Diego is getting +600 to win the World Series, the Giants +1,000.
