Getting credited with the 11-3 loss at Baltimore on Wednesday, Danks allowed four runs on seven hits over four innings, his shortest outing since July 20 against Kansas City. Danks struck out one, walked three and needed 93 pitches to complete his work. Danks has no record in two starts against Cleveland this season but only has allowed two runs over 14 2/3 innings when facing the Indians in 2008. Danks has a 1-2 career record against Cleveland and a 1-1 mark at Progressive Field. He also will receive an extra day's rest, having his start pushed back from Monday to Tuesday.
Carmona had an uneven outing against the Tigers on Wednesday, but he got enough support to earn the victory. In six innings of work, Carmona allowed four runs on seven hits with three walks and three strikeouts. He had trouble locating his sinker early but he settled in late. Carmona is at his best when he doesn't try to overthrow that sinkerball. The pitch has better action when he lets it flow out of his hand, rather than forcing it. He'll be facing a White Sox team he held to a run on four hits in seven innings in a victory in his first start of the season.
Cliff Lee threw a complete-game shutout to lead the Indians past the White Sox 5-0 on Monday night and in turn picking up his 20th win.
Cleveland won as -175 home favorites as the game played under the 9-run total posted by oddsmakers. Asdrubal Cabrera knocked in two runs for the Indians, while Shin-Soo Choo was 3-for-4 with a run batted in for Cleveland.
