New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays Baseball Prediction

New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays Baseball PredictionScott Kazmir tries to keep the Tampa Bay Ray’s winning ways alive against the New York Yankees in their Thursday MLB Match-up. Scott Kazmir (10-6) will start for the Rays, and he’s been a big reason for their success this season. The young lefty’s 3.13 ERA and 140 strike outs (in just 126.1 innings) are simply excellent numbers, and he’s clearly showing the online betting community he’s ready to dominate as a true ace. BetOnline.com has the Tampa Bay Rays –175 odds baseball prediction favorites over the New York Yankees +155 odds with the total set at 9 runs.

New York Yankees at Tampa Bay Rays – Thursday, September 4 at 7:10 p.m. ET

Rays odds look especially solid after examining Kazmir’s past success against New York. He held the Bronx Bombers to just two runs in two starts this year, while striking out 12 batters in 11 innings. Though he owns just a 3-4 record against New York in 10 starts (and 11 appearances), it hasn’t been for any lack of effort on his part; his career ERA against the Yanks is 2.76.

Tampa’s lineup is solid if unspectacular. It manages to scrape by, and it isn’t asked to do much with pitchers like Kazmir in the fold. Betting on baseball would be absolutely easy if the Rays offense was even a little bit better.

The Yankees will turn to Darrell Rasner (5-9). He’s mediocre at best, though that’s probably being generous. His 5.08 ERA certainly isn’t doing Yankee odds any favors. New York has dropped four of the last five games started by the righty.

Rasner has just two career appearances against Tampa Bay, both in relief. He’s surrendered a run and two hits in 4.1 innings of work while striking out five. His road ERA is trouble, however, at a bloated 5.53.

New York hasn’t had the pop traditionally expected from its bats. Age and subpar play are both factors and a shakeup can be expected in the offseason. Either way, the lineup is very middle-of-the-pack.

Tampa Bay has lost seven of its last 10 outings against New York, but with Kazmir on the mound it’s usually a different story. He’s got the stuff to give the Rays another win, especially against Rasner.
