 The Chicago Cubs have lost seven of their last eight and all of the sudden have plenty of problems. Closer Kerry Wood looks shaky and the batting power has dissipated. The Cubs still hold a reasonable lead over the Milwaukee Brewers and a sizable nine-game lead over the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Aside from one rough start, Lohse hasn’t pitched poorly in his last six outings. He’s just received bad run support. Lohse has given up only eight earned runs in his last 26 innings pitched (2.76 ERA) and is off one of his best outings on the year.
