MLB Betting: St Louis Cardinals at Milwaukee BrewersThe Milwaukee Brewers have one week (7-games) left in their season and their playoff hopes have diminished by the day. The Brew-Crew has lost four of its last five games including a crushing defeat to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, blowing a 4-1 lead in the seventh and eighth innings to go down 7-4. The loss cost the Brewers another game in the standings, dropping to 3.5 games in back of the NL Central Division leaders Chicago Cubs whom on Sunday shut out the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-0 at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.

Monday, the Brewers enter a three game set with the St Louis Cardinals, a team hoping to play spoiler to Milwaukee’s playoff hopes.

For Monday’s game, the Brewers pin their hopes on RHP Dave Bush (11-10, 5.20 ERA) while the Cardinals counter with RHP Adam Wainwright (13-11, 3.60 ERA). The Brewers have struggled in recent games with Bush on the mound losing in five of their last games Bush started. Bush last faced the Cardinals on August 16, when he picked up the loss in an 8-0 shutout. In that game Wainwright pitched seven strong innings only giving up 2 hits in that span.

Oddsmakers at online sports betting giant Sportsbook.com have installed the Brewers the money line favorite (-140) with an 8.0 total. St Louis is getting +130 ml juice. The line most popular with 88 percent of bettors on Monday morning is a run-line wager (-1.5) on the Brewers that is giving +130 odds. Only 55 percent are risking Milwaukee on the ml while 59 percent of early wagers expect the total to go OVER. St Louis is getting +170 on the RL.

Following this series with the Cardinals, the Brewers close the regular season with a four-game set against San Diego, which begins play Monday with a one-half game lead in the wild card race. The Cubs play their final two series of 2007 at Florida and Cincinnati, both teams with losing records.
