Free MLB Picks: Twins at Tigers MLB Odds – September 29, 2009

Free MLB Picks – Twins at Tigers MLB Odds: After Tuesday's 3-2 extra inning win over the Detroit Tigers, the Minnesota Twins have climbed to within one game of Detroit in the American League Central standings. The two teams are playing a Day-Night double-header today with the night cap set for 7:05 pm ET. With a win, Minnesota will catch Detroit in the standings with five games remaining in the regular season. Getting the start for Detroit in Game-2 is Dustin Verlander. The Tigers ace righthander is 17-9 on the year with a 3.41 ERA. Countering for the Twins is Brian Duensing. The lefthander is 5-1 with a 3.33 ERA.

MLB Picks professionals at BetUS.com list Detroit as -170 moneyline favorite for Game-2 with an 8-run total. Twins backers are getting +150 moneyline odds.

Verlander gets a rematch against a Twins lineup he dominated for seven innings before a fly-ball double lost against the backdrop of the Metrodome roof and a broken-bat bloop single on a 101-mph fastball helped set off a five-run eighth inning in a difficult Tigers defeat. This time, he'll have the night sky of Detroit in his favor, and a chance at tying his career high in wins. His win Thursday at Cleveland, however, showed that he can't afford to get too fastball-happy.

The Twins hope that Duensing will be a little better at keeping his pitches down in the zone when he starts in Detroit during that critical series. Duensing is 1-0 with a 0.61 in three appearances (one start) vs. the Tigers this season.

Free MLB Picks: We like Detroit on the arm of Verlander.
