MLB Betting: San Diego Padres vs Colorado Rockies

by Alexander Banks on Monday, October 1st, 2007

The San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies get to play one more baseball game before knowing their fate. Each ended the regular season with identical 89-73 records and must now play one last game against each other to see whose players pack up and go home or see which team continues its season at least one more series in the NL Divisional Playoffs. The game will be played at Rockies’ home park, Coors Field with first pitch at 7:30 p.m. ET. Television coverage will be provided by TBS.

The Padres will send their best, Cy Young probable, RHP Jake Peavy (19-6, 2.36 ERA) to the mound with hopes of shutting the door on the regular season with a win and the wild-card ticket. Peavy has picked up winning decisions in his last 7-of-10 games he started. Peavy leads the NL in wins with 19, strike outs with 234, is fourth in innings pitched with 217 and has the best ERA of 2.36. Peavy last pitched Sept. 26, picking up a win in the teams 11-3 victory at San Francisco against the Giants.

The Rockies will counter with RHP Josh Fogg (10-9, 4.79 ERA). Fogg has been the winner in his last 5-of-10 starts while the Rockies won six times in Fogg’s last 10 starts. Fogg last pitched in a winning cause going 6.2 innings leading the Rockies to a 2-0 shutout of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sept.26.

Oddsmakers at online sports wagering giant Sportsbook.com have installed the Padres as -136 money line favorites with the game total set at 9.0. The Rockies are getting +126 ml juice.
