Diamondbacks vs Brewers Game 2 MLB Playoffs 2011 Odds: The Brew Crew certainly played like the best home team in the majors, methodically picking apart the snakes to take Game 1 of this best-of-five series, 4-1. Trying to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole, the resilient (0-1) Arizona Diamondbacks [-160] will try and steal one from the MLB Odds favorites (1-0) Milwaukee Brewers [+150] this afternoon before the series shifts to the desert.
This critical Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday evening at 5 PM ET (4 PM CT) on TBS, as we will have a terrific pitching matchup. Toeing the hill for the D-Backs will be 16-game winner, RHP Daniel Hudson (16-12, 3.89 ERA). Hudson was instrumental in his team beating the Giants for the Division, but stumbled a bit late in the season.
The 24-year-old righty out of Old Dominion was 5-5 in his final 10 games of the season with an 3.06 ERA. Hudson was a workhouse for his club this year, pitching a total of 222 innings and punching out 169 batters. But winning this critical game will not be a walk in the park, as his counterpart is sure to have a say in it.
Understanding the importance of a 2-0 lead, Milwaukee skipper, Ron Roenicke will send former (2009) Cy Young Award winner, RHP Zack Greinke on short rest. The 28-year-old Orlando, FL, native will take the hill on 4 days rest, a task many pitchers feel comfortable doing, considering it like a bullpen session.
After a rough season a year ago in KC, Greinke regained his Cy Young Form this season with the Brewers. In his final season as a Royal, Greinke finished with a 10-14 record and the third worst ERA of his career at 4.17. This season, the kid was able to get back on track, pitching a total of 171.2 innings in 28 starts, walking just 45 batters and registering an eye-popping 201 victims via the strikeout.
"I told him I'd be ready to pitch," Greinke said of his conversation with Roenicke about a potential short-rested start in the postseason. "It doesn't matter when they pitch me. I said I'd be ready for sure, and it was also kind of part of the plan." Get $50 in Free MLB Picks Here!
