Tigers vs Yankees Game 2 MLB Playoffs 2011 Odds

by Alexander Banks on Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

Tigers vs Yankees Game 2 MLB Playoffs 2011 Odds: Raining downpours couldn’t stop the Bronx Bombers from taking the all-important series opener, as Ivan Nova was terrific in picking up where CC Sabathia left off. With an offensive outburst, the (1-0) New York Yankees [-150] go into Game 2 of this series looking to put a stranglehold on the MLB Odds underdog (0-1) Detroit Tigers [+140].

Game 2 of this best-of-five series is scheduled to get underway this afternoon from Yankee Stadium, beginning at 3 PM ET on TNT Sports. According to MLB Playoffs 2011 Point Spreads experts, the projected OVER/UNDER between the Tigers and Yanks is set at a combined total of 9½ runs scored.

Today’s pitching matchup will consist of two righties, as Jim Leyland will send the Missouri standout, Max Scherzer (15-9, 4.43 ERA) to battle Joe Girardi’s ageless wonder, Freddy Garcia (12-8, 3.62 ERA). With the high probability of Cy Young frontrunner, Justin Verlander starting in Game 3 at Comerica Park, the Yanks need to protect home-field and put all the pressure on Detroit this afternoon.

Last night, the Yankee bats came to life, as Robinson Cano made his skipper look like genius. After electing to bat the reigning Home Run Derby King third in the lineup and moving Mark Teixeira to bat fifth, No.24 responded in a big way. Batting in front of Alex Rodriguez, Cano went 3-for-5, including two doubles, a homerun and a total of 6 runs-batted-in.

I see no reason why the Yankees cant go into Game 2 of this series and swing the lumber with authority once again. Cano is red-hot right now, as he will continue to build his legacy in the postseason. This kid has not only emerged as the best hitter in the Yankees lineup, but he’s already one of the best, pure hitters in the game today.

I like the Yankees to take Game 2, behind a more rounded effort from everyone including MVP candidates: Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira. Get $50 in Free MLB Picks Here!
