MLB Picks: Rockies vs Phillies Game 2 NLDS 2009: The Colorado Rockies will attempt to rebound from a sour game one yesterday, which they lost 5-1 to the Phillies. Philadelphia can take an all-important two game lead in this best of five series with a win this afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 2:37pm ET at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The game will be televised live on TBS. MLB Picks at Bodog.com have the Phillies listed as a -160 moneyline favorite and the game total set a 8.5. Rockies pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez had a rough start yesterday, going just five innings and giving up nine hits and five earned Phillies ace Cliff Lee shut down the Rockies, allowing just six hits and one earned run over nine innings. Lee's performance was not only critical in garnering the win, it also saved the Phillies suspect bullpen from having to suffer any wear. The Rockies will attempt to get the win this afternoon with 30 year old Aaron Hill toeing the rubber. Hill missed almost all of September with turf toe but returned to make two starts (Sept. 25th and Oct. 1st) in which he gave up eight hits and just one earned run over 13 innings. Colorado won both games. The Kentucky native finished the season with an 11-6 record and 4.16 ERA. He made two starts against the Phillies this season, going 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA. Hill gave up seven hits and three earned runs over five innings in an August 6th loss at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies will counter Hill with 25 year old lefty, Cole Hamels. Hamels, who starred in the post-season for Philadephia in last year's championship run, has had a difficult 2009 campaign. The young southpaw posted a career worst 4.32 ERA after dealing with injury issues and a slow start. Still, Hamels had a 3.76 ERA and 7-5 record at Citizens Bank Park. The San Diego native made just one appearance, his first of the season, against the Rockies this year; he gave up 11 hits and seven earned runs over 3.2 innings in what ending up being a 10-3 loss. The Phillies have won just two of Hamels last six starts. MLB Picks Betting Trend: The Phillies are 4-1 as a home favorite with moneyline odds between -140 and -160 and Hamels on the hill. That circumstance occurred just once this season, a 5-3 win against the Dodgers back in April. Colorado is 8-20 as a +140 to +160 road underdog versus a left-handed pitcher coming off a road loss. Bodog.com MLB Picks: Rockies vs Phillies Game 2 NLDS 2009: Colorado Rockies +1.5 (-145), Over 8.5 (-120), +140 (Moneyline) Philadelphia Phillies -1.5 (+125), Under 8.5 (+100), -160 (Moneyline) Bet on sports at online sportsbook Bodog.com and receive a 10% Deposit Bonus and start winning today! |
