MLB Picks: Twins vs Yankees Game 2 ALDS 2009: The Twins and Yankees resume their series tonight as New York looks to take a 2-0 lead before the series moves to Minnesota. Ron Gardenhire's club, meanwhile, will try to avoid dropping its 10th straight game in the city of New York. Tonight's game is scheduled to get underway at 6:07pm ET at Yankee Stadium; it will be broadcast live on TBS. MLB Picks at BetUS.com have the Yanks listed as a huge -320 moneyline favorite.

New York took advantage of what had to, no doubt, be a tired Twins team on Wednesday night, beating Minnesota 7-2 to MLB Picks: Twins vs Yankees Game 2 ALDS 2009take game one of their three game set. Offensively the Yankees were powered by Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter as the two combined to go 4-for-6 with four runs scored and four RBI. Jeter also went yard on Twins hurler Brian Duensing, hitting a two run shot off the young lefty in the third inning to tie the game at 2-2. C.C. Sabathia kept the Twins offense in check, giving up eight hits and one earned run over 6.2 innings.

The Twins managed to produce 10 hits, one more than the Yankees, but they left nine runners on base in the loss.

Joe Girardi has called on veteran right hander A.J. Burnett to take the hill tonight for his squad. Burnett closed out the regular season with a 4.04 ERA and 13-9 record in 33 starts. After a rocky beginning, his numbers improved significantly at the new Yankee Stadium; he ended up with a 5-3 record in 16 starts at the facility with a 3.51 ERA. Opponents hit just .229 against him there.

Burnett made two starts against the Twins during the regular season, both of which New York won (3-2, 4-3). The Arkansas native lasted 13 innings between the two outings, giving up 13 hits and just four earned runs.

Gardenhire will counter Burnett with 27 year old righty Nick Blackburn. Blackburn garnered an 11-11 record and 4.03 ERA in 33 2009 starts. Minnesota, which won Blackburn's last four regular season starts, went 6-11 in the Oklahoma native's 17 road starts, despite his respectable 3.89 ERA away from home.

Blackburn pitched just once against the Yankees this year, giving up six hits and four earned runs over 7.2 innings in a 6-4 loss at New York (May 16th).

MLB Picks Betting Trend: The Twins are 14-41 versus the Yankees since 2002 (reg. season) and they are a miserable 3-23 in New York during the span. The Twins are just 1-10 in their last 11 outings at Yankee Stadium. However, New York is a modest 5-5 in Burnett's last 10 starts as a home favorite with a total between 9.5 and 10, making the Twins seem like a decent value at +260 on the moneyline.

BetUS.com MLB Picks: Twins vs Yankees Game 2 ALDS 2009:

Minnesota Twins +1.5 (+130), Over 10 (-105), +260 (Moneyline)

New York Yankees -1.5 (-150), Under 10 (-115), -320 (Moneyline)
