MLB Picks: Dodgers vs Cardinals Game 3 NLDS 2009: The Dodgers will attempt to close out the NLDS tonight with a three game sweep over the Cardinals. St. Louis, however, gets Los Angeles at home this evening, a place they went 3-1 against the Dodgers this season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:07pm ET at Busch Stadium; the game will be televised live on TBS. MLB Picks at BetUS.com have the Cardinals listed as a -165 moneyline favorite in tonight's game 3 showdown. The Cardinals suffered one of the most improbable post-season losses in history when they fell 2-3 to the Dodgers on The bitter loss wasted an outstanding performance from starter Adam Wainwright. Wainwright, who will most likely win the NL Cy Young award, gave up just three hits and one earned run over eight innings. He walked just one batter and struck out seven. St. Louis will send 31 year old Joel Pineiro to the hill this evening in hopes that the Puerto Rican can keep the Dodger bats quiet for at least one more night. Pineiro did just that back on July 29th when he led St. Louis to a 3-2 win over Los Angeles at Busch Stadium. The right-hander went eight innings that night and gave up just six hits and one earned run to Joe Torre's squad. Pineiro has been exceptional at home this year, posting a 2.87 ERA in 15 starts at the new Busch. Torre will call on 32 year old Vicente Padilla to toe the rubber tonight. The Dodgers have gotten more than they bargained for when they picked up the Nicaragua native from the Rangers back in August. Padilla has posted a 3.02 ERA since joining the club. He has been effective on the road too, going 7-2 with a 3.60 ERA in opposing stadiums. The Dodgers are 6-2 in the right-hander's eight starts for them. MLB Picks Betting Trend: The Cardinals are 18-8 over the last two years playing as a home favorite when they scored two runs in the previous game. Thursday night. St. Louis carried a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but it let the Dodgers off the hook when left fielder Matt Holliday dropped a fly ball with two outs. Closer Ryan Franklin was unable to collect himself after the mishap, allowing back-to-back singles, which gave Los Angeles another late come-from-behind victory.
