Brewers vs Cardinals Game 5 Odds 2011 NLCS Picks: After a huge victory that tied the 2011 NLCS, the (2-2) Milwaukee Brewers [+113] are back on Monster Mode as they take on the MLB Odds favorite (2-2) St. Louis Cardinals [-123] in Game 5. The antepenultimate game of this best-of-seven series is scheduled to get underway Friday evening at 8:10 PM ET live on TBS Sports.
On the hill tonight for the Brewers will be former Cy Young winner, RHP Zack Greinke (2011 Playoffs: 1-0, 8.18 ERA) taking on the Cardinals’ 13-game winner, LHP Jaime Garcia (2011 Playoffs: 0-2, 7.36 ERA). As a direct result of this pitching matchup, MLB Odds makers believe that Milwaukee and St. Louis will combine and score an OVER/UNDER total of 7½ runs.
This will be a rematch of the 2011 NLCS’ Game 1 starters. That night at Miller Park, Greinke walked away the victor despite not being at his best. The former Royal lasted 6 innings on the hill, allowing 8 hits, 6 runs, one homerun, issued one free pass and stroke out 6 batters.
His counterpart, Garcia wasn’t on his game either that night. Tony LaRussa’s lefty lasted just 4 innings, surrendering 6 hits, 6 ER, 2 HR, 3 walks and 3 punch-outs. The pressure will surely be on Garcia and the Redbirds tonight. A loss would meat that in order to advance, they’ll have to win 2 straight at Miller Park, something no one has been able to do this postseason.
"I've said this before, I feel really good about myself, physically and mentally, and I'm ready to go," Garcia said. "Obviously, I like pitching [at home]. But I don't really feel any different on the road. I just feel like a lot of this throughout the year, a lot of the times where I've pitched on the road, it's just one of those things didn't go your way. But I've had some good games on the road, and then some not very good at home. So I can't really answer your question, because to me, it's all the same. Obviously, I like pitching at home; you have the fans, you can sleep in your own bed. But other than that, to me, it's the same."
