2010 MLB Playoffs – Yankees vs Rangers Series Betting Odds

by Reno Gold on Friday, October 15th, 2010

2010 MLB Playoffs – Yankees vs Rangers Series Betting Odds: The Texas Rangers, winners of the American League West  and victors over the Tampa Bay Rays in the 5-Game American League Division Series, will host AL Wild-Card winners New York Yankees, winners over the Minnesota Twins in the ALDS. The seven game formatted series (2-2-1-1-1) begins with Game-1 on Friday at Rangers Ball Park in Arlington, Texas.

2010 MLB Playoffs - Yankees vs Rangers Series Betting OddsBetUS.com lists the Yankees as -180 odds favorites to win the best-of-seven games series versus the Rangers. Texas backers are getting +150 odds as the series underdog. The Rangers cashed as +120 ML underdogs to Tampa Bay in the ALDS while the Yankees covered as -180 ALDS favorites versus the Twins.

The Yankees will start former Cy Young Award winner CC Sabathia in Friday's Game-1 while the Rangers counter with lefty CJ Wilson. Sabathia has one win in the 2010 post season with a 4.50 ERA. Wilson had one win in the 2010 ALDS versus Tampa Bay.

Right-hander Phil Hughes is scheduled to start Game-2 for the Yankees while right-hander Colby Lewis toes the rubber for the Rangers. Hughes is 1-0 this post-season while Lewis has no post-season record.

The Rangers best pitcher and former Cy Young winner Cliff Lee (2-0, 1.13 ERA), having just pitched the Rangers to victory in Game-5 of the ALDS at Tampa Bay, will wait until Game-3 to start at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees will look to veteran left-hander Andy Pettitte to counter Lee in that game.

Rangers right-hander Tommy Hunter (0-1, 4.50 ERA) will look for his first 2010 post season win in Game-4 at New York while right-hander A.J. Burnett gets the go for New York. Burnett was activated for this series.

ALCS Prediction: The pressure is on New York to win Games one and two on the road. If Texas is able to steal a game versus Sabbathia in Game-1 it would provide a huge lift. Texas needs at least a split at home in the first two games. I think the Rangers have what it takes to upset the 2009 World Champions.
