Phillies at Giants Game 5 MLB Playoffs 2010 Picks, Predictions & Odds: Down three games to one in the National League Championship series, the Philadelphia Phillies need a stopper for Thursday's Game-6 (8 PM Eastern) if they plan to continue in the 2010 postseason. And there is not a better guy to answer the call than Roy Halladay. The Phillies right-hander, a hard luck loser in Game-1, is 1-1 this postseason with a 2.25 ERA. The road won't be an easy one for the Phillies lineup as they must again face two time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum. The Giants right-hander, often referred to as "the Freak" is 2-0 this postseason with a 1.69 ERA.
Halladay followed up his historic NL Division Series no-hitter with a rare loss at home in Game 1 of the NLCS. The Phillies right-hander struck out seven in seven innings but was victimized by two home runs, both off the bat of Giants outfielder Cody Ross.
Like his counterpart Halladay in the much-ballyhooed Game 1 matchup, Lincecum allowed two homers in a less-than-stellar outing. But Lincecum did enough for the win, fanning eight in seven innings while walking three to improve to 2-0 this postseason.
Juan Uribe hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to give the Giants a 6-5 win over the Phillies and a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven NLCS on Wednesday. The Giants won the game as +100 underdogs, while the 11 runs sailed OVER the posted 7 1/2 total. Buster Posey went 4-for-5 with a pair of runs batted in for the Giants. Brian Wilson pitched a scoreless ninth for the victory. Placido Polanco drove in a pair of runs for the Phillies. Roy Oswalt pitched in relief and was tagged with the loss.
MLB Picks: I don't care who is pitching for Philadelphia, I like the Giants with the reigning Cy Young winner, and so far the best overall pitcher in the post season going, Tim Lincecum. I'll take the Giants right-hander at home getting +115 underdog odds.
