Free MLB Picks - Yankees at Angels Game 5 ALCS 2009: The question surrounding Thursday's game 5 of the American League Championship Series is - will the Angels put up enough fight to extend the series to a sixth game. To Angels backers, there is some doubt who see the Yankees holding a stake over the Halos hearts with a hammer in hand.

MLB picks oddsmakers at Bodog.com seem to like the Angels chances listing both New York and Los Angeles at -105 moneyline odds with a 8 1/2-run total; virtually a Pick-Em game.

Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia is expected to start Game 1 starter John Lackey to start tonight's game. The Angels righthander is 0-1 in the series with a 3.18 ERA. Countering for New York is A.J. Burnett, a righthander, who is 0-0 in the post season with a 2.84 ERA.

In his last start against the Angels, Burnett was effective allowing two runs over 6 1/3 innings of an eventual no-decision; a game that the Yankees later won to take a 2-0 lead in the ALCS. But not everything was smooth for Burnett, who allowed one of those runs to score on a wild pitch and nearly did so twice. Walking two batters and hitting another two, Burnett was not able to completely harness his electric stuff. But he gave the Yankees more than enough to stay within striking distance and eventually win the game in the 13th.

Lackey was outdueled by CC Sabathia in Game 1 at Yankee Stadium, lasting 5 2/3 innings and giving up four runs (two earned) on nine hits and three walks, striking out three hitters. His defense let him down with several misplays, including a pop fly by Hideki Matsui in the first inning that fell in the infield for a gift RBI single. Lackey also threw away a pickoff attempt for an error, leading to an unearned run.

Melky Cabrera was 3-for-4 with four runs batted in to lead the Yankees over the Angels 10-1 in Game 4 of the series on Tuesday night. New York won as -140 road favorites, while the teams played OVER the 8-run total listed by oddsmakers. Alex Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with a two-run dinger for the Yankees, as winning pitcher CC Sabathia allowed one run over eight innings for New York.

Kendry Morales hit a solo shot for Los Angeles, while Scott Kazmir was tagged for four runs over four innings to take the loss for the Angels.

The Yankees now lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.

Free MLB Picks: We look for the Yankees to end the series tonight. The price is right too at -105 moneyline.
