World Series Game 2, Boston Red Sox vs Colorado Rockies, 8 p.m. ET, FOX.
Ok, so the Colorado Rockies got pounded in game-1 of the World Series by the Boston Red Sox. It only means they lost a game it doesn’t mean anything else. Teams have made comebacks to win a series after going down in the first game for a hundred years. No big deal and that’s exactly what Rockies manager Clint Hurdle told his players after the Red Sox dominating performance in Wednesday night’s opener.
Wednesday night’s game 1 reminded me of the 1982 World Series opener between the St Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers. Milwaukee won the first game 10-0. The Brewers tagged four different Cardinals' pitchers for a shocking seventeen hit, 10-0 affair. Paul Molitor, Milwaukee's leadoff specialist set a World Series record with five hits and Robin Yount followed close behind with four. Mike Caldwell tossed a three hit masterpiece.
The Cardinals did not panic. They took it as a loss, collected themselves and beat Milwaukee in game 2. From there the Cardinals went on and won that year’s World Series in seven games.
Tonight the Rockies must face another Red Sox dominating pitcher in veteran Curt Shilling while pinning their hopes on Ubaldo Jiminez.
The 23 year old rookie right hander started 15 games for Colorado and finished the regular season with a 4-4 record and a 4.28 ERA. Jiminez has similar stuff as Cleveland Indians pitchers C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona, who the Red Sox handled in the ALCS.
On paper, the Red Sox appear to be a solid favorite going with Schilling who owns a 10-2 career playoffs record.
Oddsmakers at online sports wagering giant Bodog (Bodoglife.com) agree installing the Red Sox a -195 money line favorite with a game total of 10. The Rockies are getting +175 ml juice as the road underdog.

Manny Ramirez was 3-for-4 with two RBI and scored three times to lead the Red Sox, and David Ortiz had three hits and two RBI in Game 1. Josh Beckett surrendered just one run on six hits over seven innings for the victory.
Troy Tulowitzki was 2-for-3 and drove in one run for the Rockies, while Jeff Francis gave up 10 hits and six runs over four innings to suffer the loss. The Rockies were +185 underdogs in the opener.
