The National League West leading Rockies will look to avoid their third consecutive loss this evening as they host the defending champion Giants in an afternoon clash at Coors Field. Today's series finale, which features a matchup between hurlers Matt Cain and Jorge De La Rosa, is scheduled to get underway at 3:10pm ET. The latest MLB Odds & Predictions have Colorado listed as a -120 moneyline favorite; the game total is set at 8.5 with the Under drawing -120 odds.
The Giants, which have won six of the last seven in this rivalry series, still trail the Rockies by two games in the NL West standings, but they served noticed to Colorado over the last two 
nights with 8-1 and 6-3 victories at Coors Field. San Francisco, now 10-7 overall, has recovered from its 4-1 start and comes into this afternoon's contest having won six of its last seven games.
Not surprisingly, the Giants pitching staff has been key to the team's recent run with their opposition averaging a paltry 3.1 runs per game since an April 11th loss at Los Angeles (6-1).
Matt Cain will be charged with keeping the Rockies in check today as he looks to duplicate the efforts of teammates Tim Lincecum and Jonathan Sanchez. Cain's performance through three starts would indicate he is more than ready for the task. The Alabama native has allowed just 14 hits and three earned runs in 19 innings pitched this season, consequently, the Giants are 3-0 in his three 2011 appearances.
Cain has also befuddled the Rockies throughout his career, limiting them to 95 hits and 46 earned runs over 140.2 innings of work (22 starts, 11-6 record).
Colorado, which had not lost back-to-back games all season until last night's 3-6 setback, will look to improve upon its National League best 12-5 record when it takes the field today. In order to do that, though, it must get a solid outing from lefty Jorge De La Rosa.
De La Rosa allowed just five hits and two earned runs in his first two starts, but he got roughed up for five hits and four earned runs in his last appearance. Despite his poor showing, the Rockies got a 9-4 win after pounding the Mets for 13 hits.
De La Rosa has been nearly flawless in 12 career appearances against the Giants, putting together a 6-1 record with a 2.79 ERA and 1.09 WHIP.
