The Los Angeles Angels (66-47) will be laying in wait for the Minnesota Twins (58-56) to invade Anaheim for a three game weekend series Friday night. Angels RHP Kelvim Escobar (11-6, 2.79 ERA) will face Twins and RHP Scott Baker (6-4, 4.43 ERA). The Twins have struggled on the road losing their previous 7-of-9 games including dropping their last road series to the Kansas City Royals 1-2.
Baker’s last start (Aug. 5) was a good one lasting eight full innings leading the Twins to a 1-0 home shut out victory over the Cleveland Indians, however, in his last outing versus the Angels (June 5) he wasn’t so fortunate going 5.2 innings, giving up eight hits and five earned runs including a home run.
Escobar has lost three straight start despite allowing just one earned run and two hits over seven innings in losing to Oakland 1-2 at home last Saturday. Escobar will be looking at getting back on the winning track against the Twins.
Oddsmakers at online sports betting giant Bodog.com, currently have the Angels listed as -190-moneyline favorites versus the Twins, while the game's total is sitting at 8. For the three game series the Angels are favored with a -300 chalk while the Twins get +240 juice as the road underdog.
The Twins were shut out 1-0 by the Royals last time out, as -145 favorites. The final score fell well UNDER the posted over/under (10).Alexi Casilla had two hits for the Twins, and Matt Garza surrendered four hits and the lone run in the loss.
The Angels lost 9-6 to the Red Sox last time out, as -115 favorites. The combined 15 runs sailed OVER the posted over/under (9.5).Chone Figgins led the Angels with three RBI, and finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Dustin Moseley allowed 10 hits and six runs over 4 2-3 innings to suffer the loss.
