MLB Predictions: Philadelphia Phillies vs New York MetsMLB Predictions Preview … The Philadelphia Phillies having completed a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, welcome the New York Mets into Citizens Bank Park for a short two-game series with the NL East Division leaders. Currently trailing the Mets by ½-game in the standings, the Phillies need a two-game sweep in order re-take the NL East lead. Starting Tuesday’s game one, the Phillies will send veteran left hander Jamie Moyer (11-7, 3.54 ERA) to the mound to counter Mets and right hander Pedro Martinez (4-3, 4.97 ERA).

MLB Predictions Betting Line …Sportsbook.com has the Phillies listed as -122 money line favorites with a 9-run total. The Mets are getting +112 money line odds as a road favorite.

Moyer ran his streak of allowing three runs or fewer to 14 with a fine effort against Washington. In that game, he surrendered one earned run in 6 2/3 innings, but he received a no-decision. In 18 career starts against the Mets this season, the lefty is 7-4 with a 2.85 ERA. He has faced them four times this season, giving up three, two, two and one run in those outings.

By the time Martinez handed the ball to manager Jerry Manuel with one on and no outs in the eighth inning Thursday, his veteran trickery had worn out against the Braves, who tacked on four runs in seven innings. Manuel doesn't foresee Martinez, whose fastball is consistently working in the mid-80s mph, to last more than a couple of rotations through an opponent's lineup. But Martinez seemingly surpassed those expectations, striking out six, taking the mound to start the eighth, and surpassing 100 pitches. In his last outing in Philadelphia, Martinez allowed two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings and won.

Mike Pelfrey went the distance to get the win, as the Mets rolled past the Astros 9-1 on Monday night.

New York won as -235 home favorites as the teams played over the 9-run total listed by oddsmakers.

Brett Myers tossed seven scoreless innings to earn the victory, as the Phillies shut out the Dodgers 5-0 on Monday night.

Philadelphia won as -120 home favorites as the game played under the 8.5-run total posted by sportsbooks.

MLB Prediction… Phillies -122 ML
