.The Lakers (23-26, 8-16 V) beat the Brooklyn Nets 92-83, on the road, Tuesday night. Kobe Bryant had 21 points and eight rebounds, while Steve Nash had 17 points and eight assists. Earl Clark added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Lakers, who beat the Nets for the 10th straight time. Gasol scored 15 points.

Metta World Peace will return from a one-game suspension and possibly play at power forward to defend Kevin Garnett. Dwight Howard missed his third consecutive game with a torn labrum in his right shoulder and Pau Gasol, his replacement, said he felt a pop in his right foot when he went down with a little more than 4 minutes remaining. He was examined by Nets doctors and diagnosed with a strained plantar fascia.

“If it’s a one-third tear, within four to six weeks he should be OK,” said Dr. Robert Khorramian, a Santa Monica foot and ankle specialist. “If it’s a two-third tear, it would go much higher, possibly eight to 10 weeks. When there’s over a two-third or a complete tear, we advise surgery. That takes 12 to 14 weeks.”
