San Antonio head to Boston to Face the Cooled Down Celtics

by Alexander Banks on Friday, February 8th, 2008

Much has been made of San Antonio's supposed demise and how “old” the Spurs look, though people seem to be forgetting they're 31-16 (as of Friday afternoon). Many believe the defending champs are simply pacing themselves rather than wearing out quickly in the talented Western Conference. Heading into Friday's game against the Knicks, the Spurs had managed three straight wins, including an important 84-81 victory over the conference-leading Phoenix Suns. Damon Stoudamire recently joined the team and has helped fill the void left by the injured Tony Parker. BetOnline.com curently has the Boston Celtics as the 5.5 fav as they host the San Antonio Spurs

San Antonio at Boston , Sunday @ 1:00 p.m. ET

Speaking of old teams, the Celtics have cooled off after a blazing start. They're still 37-9 and leading the East by a comfortable margin (as of Friday afternoon), but fans have reason to be concerned as “The Big Three” has missed some games lately. Kevin Garnett, the most important piece of the Ray Allen/Paul Pierce/Garnett troika, has missed Boston's last five games with strained abs. Without KG, the C's are much less threatening.

Be sure to check injury reports before game time, but feel safe taking Boston if Garnett is starting. Take comfort in the fact that Boston is 21-4 at home this season.
