The LA Lakers play their second game of NBA Picks in as many nights and 8th of a long 9 game road trip when they take on the Charlotte Bobcats. The Lakers are coming off a 10 point win over the Miami heat yesterday and are now 33-17 including a fairly impressive 16-10 SU mark on the road. After complaining about not having enough supporting cast around him Kobe Bryant got part of his wish as the Lakers traded for big man Paul Gasol. However, their offense certainly hasn’t been hurting this season as they score a potent 107 points per game while shooting an impressive 47.7% from the field. The Lakers are hoping their recent acquisition of Gasol will help their defense as thus far this season they are allowing a rather high 101 points per game. The Charlotte Bobcats were hoping to put together a better season than they have thus far in NBA Picks as they are only 18-33 SU overall including 14-15 SU at home. To add to their woes the Bobcats have really struggled recently as they have lost six in a row and 10 of their last 13 overall. They have had some success versus the Lakers however as they have won their last two head to head meetings. The Bobcats will have to step up their scoring to keep pace with the Lakers tonight as they average only 95.3 points per game on 44.8% shooting from the floor. It doesn’t appear that their defense will help that much as they give up an average of 100.6 points per game. Although not a complete force under the glass the Bobcats have out rebounded their opponents at home this season as they hold a 22-19 average per game advantage.
The number in this one might not matter all that much as Charlotte is 7-15 ATS as an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points this season. Charlotte also comes into this one off back to back games after playing Detroit yesterday and they have excelled in this roll going 20-6 ATS in home games when playing on back-to-back days since 1996.
