New York Knicks vs Miami Heat 2012 NBA Predictions

by Scott Burgess on Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

The NBA’s two biggest story lines of the last two seasons collide tonight, Thursday Feb 23rd, when the Miami Heat plays host to Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks. The Heat won their last meeting over the Knicks, but that was before Linsanity started. NBA oddsmakers have the Heat as -9.5 point home favorites over the Knicks with the over/under set at 202 points. Be sure to make your New York Knicks vs Miami Heat 2012 NBA Predictions before the game tips off.

New York (17-17, 7-8 V) beat the Atlanta Hawks 99-82, at home, on Wednesday night. Lin had 17 points and nine assists, while Carmelo Anthony scored 15 points in his second game back from injury for the Knicks. New York bounced back from a loss to New Jersey on Monday and won for the ninth time in 11 games since Lin joined the rotation. New York – suddenly a strong playoff hopeful after a dreadful start – is 8-2 with Lin in the rotation, and he’s averaging 24.6 points and 9.2 assists in that stretch.

New York dropped a 99-89 decision in Miami on Jan. 27 this season, as Wade came back from a six-game absence due to an ankle injury and posted 28 points. James had 31 points in that one for the Heat, who have won eight of the last 10 meetings with the Knicks. Anthony was sidelined in the first meeting with Miami because of a thumb issue and Bill Walker did his part with 21 points. The Knicks have lost five of six trips to south Florida.

Miami (26-7, 14-2 H) got a 120-108 triumph over Sacramento on Tuesday. Dwyane Wade led six players in double-digit scoring with 30 points and dished out 10 assists, while Chris Bosh tallied 20 points and 10 boards and Mario Chalmers added 20 points as well for Miami. LeBron James recorded 18 points, eight assists and four rebounds as the Heat are winners of eight in row.

The Heat share the NBA’s best record with Oklahoma City at 26-7 and have won 15 of 17 games since their last home loss versus Milwaukee on Jan. 22. When Miami finished off Sacramento on Tuesday night and the Knicks were officially the next order of Heat business, the questions had hardly anything to do with Carmelo Anthony or Amare Stoudemire. It was all about Jeremy Lin. “It’s the game right before All-Star,” James said. “But it won’t be like ‘that’ game before All-Star, like people are accustomed to. Everybody always says, you know, the game before All-Star, people are ready to get to All-Star weekend. I don’t think so. Just knowing the rivalry, knowing the history between the Heat and Knicks. It could be one of the most watched games we’ve had in a long time, especially with what Jeremy Lin is doing.” “It’s not about Jeremy Lin versus LeBron James,” Heat guard Dwyane Wade said. “It’s the Miami Heat versus the New York Knicks.”
