The Miami Heat are in Atlanta tonight for a Southeast division showdown with the Hawks. Both clubs have won just five of their last 10 games, but still remain in the top five of the Eastern Conference overall standings. The two teams have met twice this season, both times in Miami; each squad came away with a victory. Tonight's rubber match is set to tip off at 7:30pm ET at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.NBA Picks: Miami Heat vs Atlanta Hawks Picks

NBA Picks: Miami Heat vs Atlanta Hawks at Sportsbook.com have the Hawks listed as a -5 against the spread home favorite.

Miami has not exactly been lighting things up in recent weeks, but they have still managed to gain ground on the struggling Hawks. The Heat are now just a game and a half back of second place Atlanta in the Southeast division with a 30-26 overall record.  Miami, who is 7-4 versus division opponents this season, is fifth in the conference standings with a two game lead over the 76ers.

Miami last played on Tuesday night at the American Airlines Arena in Florida. They turned in a dominating performance, shooting 50 percent from the field and outrebounding the Pistons 44 to 34. All-Star guard Dwyane Wade led the way with 31 points, a career high 16 assists, and seven boards.

The Heat are anything but a juggernaut in road play as they have garnered an 11-16 away record thus far. Their 96.7 point per game road average ranks 19th in the league standings and their 38.3 road rebounding average falls in the bottom third.

Atlanta has fallen on hard times of late and they come into tonight's game having lost four of their last five games, all on the road. The Hawks are no doubt excited to get home where they have won four of their last six games. Their slippage has allowed the Heat to gain ground and a loss this evening would put Miami just a half game behind them in the division.

The Hawks fell at Denver on Wednesday night, losing 109-110 without point guard Mike Bibby or power forward Josh Smith in the lineup. Atlanta kept themselves in the game by hitting 40-of-80 from the field and 24-of-26 from the charity stripe. However, the Nuggets three point shooting (55.6 percent from beyond the arc) was more than they could overcome.

Mike Woodson's troops are 19-6 at Philips Arena this year where they pour in an average of 100.5 per game on 47.6 percent field goal shooting. Their 39.9 home rebounding average ranks near the bottom of the league, only Miami and Toronto have worse tallies.
