The Phoenix Suns, still on the outside looking in in the Western Conference playoff picture, continue their seven game road swing this evening with a stop in Bean Town. Tonight's matchup between the Suns and Celtics is scheduled to get underway at 7:30pm ET at the TD Garden; the game will be broadcast live on NBA TV. NBA Spreads have Boston listed as a -7 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 198.
Phoenix won its fourth straight game and improved to 14-14 in road play last night with a 104-103 overtime win at New Jersey. The Suns, now 31-27 on the season and a game back of the eighth place Grizzlies in the Western Conference overall standings, got a huge night from the bench in the close win.
Four Phoenix reserves scored in double figures, led by the efforts of Hakim Warrick, who finished with 16 points and seven rebounds, and Marcin Gortat, who tallied 17 points and five boards. Steve Nash had a difficult shooting night, going 3-for-13 from the field, but he still produced a 10 point, 15 assist double double in leading the Suns to victory.
Phoenix, which has posted a 15-10 record against Eastern Conference opponents this season, has won three straight against Boston. The last meeting between the two squads took place at the end of January with the Suns scoring an 88-71 victory at Phoenix.
Boston closed out a four game road trip with a 3-1 record after overcoming the Jazz 107-102 last night at the EnergySolutions Arena. The win, the Celtics fifth in their last six games, saw all five Boston starters score in double figures.
Ray Allen, who connected on five of his eight three point attempts, led the Celtics with 25 points while Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo both posted double doubles. Garnett scored 16 points and snagged 14 rebounds, complimenting Rondo's 18 point and 11 rebound evening. Paul Pierce posted 21 points after going 11-for-11 from the free throw line.
Boston, now 43-15 overall, is 25-5 at the Garden this season. The Celtics last home loss came on February 10th when the Lakers scored a 92-86 win in front of the Boston faithful.
