Nuggets vs Clippers NBA Point Spreads March 5th, 2011

by Matt Foust on Saturday, March 5th, 2011

The red hot Nuggets will attempt to keep their post-Carmelo boon in full swing this evening as they take on Western Conference rival Los Angeles at the STAPLES Center. Tonight's meeting between the Nuggets and Clippers is scheduled to get underway at 10:30pm ET. NBA Point Spreads have the Clippers listed as a -1 against the spread home favorite and the game total set at 209.

The Nuggets will not be mistaken as road warriors anytime soon, but they have started to take on an air of road Nuggets vs Clippers NBA Point Spreads March 5th, 2011respectability of late, winning three of their last seven away games. Denver, which has won six of its last seven games, used its recently developed road chops to dump a reeling Jazz squad 103-101 at the EnergySolutions Arena on Thursday night.

The Nuggets got a nice game from point guard Ty Lawson, who tallied 23 points, six rebounds, and five assists, but Arron Afflalo produced the biggest moment for Denver by hitting a go-ahead three pointer with just under 12 seconds to play. Afflalo concluded the evening with 19 points on eight of 12 shooting.

Denver, at 37-26, trails first place Oklahoma City by 2.5 games in the Northwest Division. The Nuggets, which are 11-19 on the road this season, are 14.5 games back of San Antonio in the Western Conference overall standings (fifth place).

Los Angeles put an end to a five game losing streak on Wednesday night by dropping the Rockets 106-103 at the STAPLES Center. Eric Gordon, who had missed the Clippers previous 18 games with a wrist injury (LAC went 4-14 in that span), returned with a bang as he poured in a team high 24 points in the win.

The Clippers, now 22-40 overall and 17-15 at home, also got another big outing from rookie Blake Griffin. Griffin posted 20 points and 14 rebounds for his ninth double double in L.A.'s last 10 games.

While the Clippers have had a nice thing going at home lately (7-2 in their last nine games at the STAPLES Center – as a host), they may find it difficult to keep things rolling against the Nuggets. Los Angeles did score a 106-93 home win over Denver back in January, but George Karl's squad has won eight of the last 10 meetings between the two teams.
