The Portland Trail Blazers look to continue their recent dominance of Orlando this evening as the two squads square off in the Sunshine State. Tonight's East/West skirmish is scheduled to tip off at 7:00pm ET at the Amway Center in Orlando. NBA Spreads have the Magic listed as a -1.5 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 188.5.
Portland recorded its second straight win on Saturday night with a 93-69 pasting of the Charlotte Bobcats at the Rose
Garden. The Trail Blazers, now 35-27 overall and 4.5 games back of the first place Thunder in the Northwest Division, forced the Bobcats into 21 turnovers and a 1-of-10 night from beyond the arc.
Portland's offense benefited from a 21-for-25 effort at the free throw line as just one starter, LaMarcus Aldridge (26 points), scored in double figures.
The Trail Blazers, who own a 14-17 road record, won the first meeting of the season between these two teams, a December 9th affair at the Rose Garden, despite a 39 point, 15 rebound line from Dwight Howard. They garnered the 97-83 victory thanks to a perimeter defense that held Orlando to 6-for-22 from three point range. The win marked the Blazers third in their last five meetings with the Magic.
Orlando had a four game win streak halted the last time it took the floor as the red hot Chicago Bulls stuffed the Magic 89-81 at the Amway Center on Friday. The Magic shot a horrific 56.5 from the foul line and connected on a paltry 6-for-23 from downtown.
Howard posted a 20 point, 10 rebound double double, but he also accounted for seven of Orlando's 15 turnovers.
Orlando, which has not lost back to back games since falling to the Hornets and Thunder in mid-January, can reduce the fading Heat's Southeast lead to 2.5 games with a win tonight. The Magic are 24-10 at home this season, but they are a pedestrain 5-3 in their last eight games as a host.
