Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Betting Preview

by Thomas Jensen on Saturday, April 5th, 2008

The Orlando Magic head to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers as Dwight Howard clashes with LeBron James in a Saturday afternoon contest. BetOnline.com has the Cleveland Cavs -2 point favorites against the Orlando Magic with the over/under set at 196.5 points.

The Magic should have third place in the Eastern Conference wrapped up, but they are trying to halt a slump in which they have lost four of their last six games. This is the sign of a young team that is not used to the intensity of a stretch run, and this could be their downfall come playoff time. The Magic need Howard to be that player who can take over a game at will, because there are not many players in the league who can guard him one-on-one.

The Cavaliers know what that is like, as James has been simply unstoppable this year. However, as the story has been all season, Cleveland needs someone like Zydrunas Ilgauskas to step up and take some of the pressure off of James. While James carried the Cavaliers to the Finals last season, to do it two years in a row would be too much to ask.

The Magic have taken three of their last five meetings with the Cavaliers, including two of three this season in which the home team has won each time. Expect the Cavaliers to continue that trend and send the Magic to another late-season loss. Get your Free NBA Pick in Now!
